Another short Christmas letter this year. Summarising my year in two words: “Delta” and “Omicron”.

If that doesn’t bore you already, read on.

Shortest Christmas letter. My year in one word: Covid-19.

Until next year.

2019 Christmas Letter

The year flew by very quickly and it’s Christmas Eve again. I was going to be early and was planning on writing this on the 22nd but, “other urgent matters” (aka “being slack) took over and so here I am again, writing the letter on Christmas Eve.

My IT consulting business is still experiencing double-digit growth this year (remember that even one new client is double-digit growth for me).

2018 Christmas Letter

It’s Christmas Eve, 2018. Almost another year, another $357 - if the saying “Another Day, Another Dollar” is true.

This is probably going to be a short letter for me this year. I haven’t actually done a lot.

To sum up the year, it’s another mixed bag of happiness and sadness. There’s always changes and, thankfully, people helping me along, for which I’m always grateful.

2016 Christmas Letter

To sum up 2016 in one word for me - “Discovery”.

This is the year where I “boldly go” where I’ve never gone before.

First discovery, I took up Uber driving. It became legal on 1st of January so I thought, “why not?” - it pays the bills.

2015 Christmas Letter

The letter is a bit late this year because I've had to re-edit and cull the content. I wasn't aiming to write "War and Peace".

A lot had happened this year.

Firstly, let's talk about the "firsts" for me:

I learnt how to make pizza! It started because my sisters wanted to buy a food processor. As it's an electronic gadget, the IT guy in the family (me) needed to review and produce a feasibility study. I watched the online videos and when I saw that we could make pizza dough from the food processor, I was sold! I even went to negotiate the price and picked up the machine!

2014 Christmas Letter

Now that my cousin Eugene and his family are on the plane back to Singapore, I can finally sit down and write this Christmas letter.

This is probably going to be the shortest Christmas letter from me, as the year 2014 can be summed up in two words - “family reunion”.

I thought I’d do it a bit differently this year, so I am started writing this at 37,000 feet in the air, on my way back from Hong Kong to Sydney.

What can I say about this year? Well, it was a bit on the low side for most of the year but luckily, it picked up in the last quarter and looks like ending on a high.

2012 Christmas Letter

shapeimage_2012
2010 was about change. 2011 was about nothing. 2012 will be remembered, for me, about the bad news.

For the Year of the Dragon, in which I was born, this was supposed to be a good year. OK, somebody forgot to tell the bloody dragon to be nice to me!

Last year was about change. This year was about, um...hmm...how do I put it, nothing? Actually, it’s about networking and making new contacts.

For the first time in 7 years, my travel photo folder for the year has only 2 albums and both albums are from personal holidays, none of them from work.

Christmas 2010

This year is all about CHANGE.

From January, I received news that there would be changes to our Toastmasters Club’s meal costs and new rules on when we needed to vacate the premises.

I had a training course in China which was supposed to happen in May but changed to August. The location was to be Xiamen in China, which was my dad’s home town and would have suited me just fine, but changed to Dalian which is north east from Beijing (and I don’t have any relatives there)!

Christmas 2009

What a year! It started off leisurely and finishing (almost) hectically.

The boring stuff first: Work. Work was so-so, ok, ho hum, nothing to write about. No business trips looked like coming up by first half of the year, so I thought I’d start taking holidays to try and keep up with my Qantas Frequent Flyer status.

How quickly the year went. It's Christmas already!

We continue to adjust to life without dad. It's been a year and a half since he left us. From time to time, it would occur to me that it's been a while since hearing dad's voice or talked to him. I would have loved to tell him what I've done since he left. I guess that's life. I have to tell you, this part of life sucks.

Christmas 2007

This is my 2007 Christmas and Thank You letter.  I have never been so late in writing my Christmas letter, but last year was unlike any other year.  In addition to being busy, I wasn't in much of a Christmas mood.

Christmas 2006

I seem to be getting better with my Christmas letter. Last year's letter was out on 21st December, this year's should beat it by 1 day!

Firstly, let's get over the boring bits: same job, same car, same address, same computer, same old me, except one year older. Since I took up photography, I've been using photos of Christmas trees I took instead of stock photos. Well, I've been a little busy this year, so the best effort I can come up with at short notice is a picture of our Christmas tree at home, taken late last night.

Christmas 2005

According to my records, last year I wrote the Christmas letter on 21st December. Today is 21st December, so officially, I'm NOT LATE with my Christmas letter this year! The Christmas tree in the photo is from Martin Place, Sydney.

Well, what a turbulent year! Reviewing the year's events, 2005 was a bit rough. As if to reflect 'real life', this has also been an unusual year for me too. Read on... Read More…

Seeing that I've been consistently late with the Christmas letter for the past few years, I thought I might as well make it a tradition and be late this year! After all, if Microsoft can be late with their software releases, why can't I be late with my Christmas letter?

Looking back at what I had written last year, once again, I thought I was going to be very early with my Christmas letter this year, and once again, I'm late!! Again, looking back at what I'd written last year, gee, my life hasn't changed much! Read More…

I actually thought I was going to be very early with my Christmas letter this year, but as quickly as you can say "Huh?" and Christmas is next week!  So I thought I'd better take a break from saving the allies from the Nazis to bring you up to date about the ups and downs in my life this year.  Firstly, the downs (might as well get it over and done with and end on a positive note! 😔 Read More…

Christmas 2001

I'm a little late with my Christmas letter this year, but so what else is new?  Well, I've had a fairly successful year. I had one of my most successful year with Toastmasters, winning a few of the competitions at club level and went onto 2 more levels above it.  My home network is approaching industrial strength, next thing I need is to sign service level agreements with my family!  My home theatre is going strong, my video library expanding as rapidly as the studios can produce the DVDs.  I started a new job at the beginning of the year, and wanted to quit the first day at work (say "awwww..."). I also haven't got around to setting up a web cam. 🙂 Read More…

Christmas 2000

Well, it's that time of the year again. As usual, I'm running late. You might think that I have been extremely busy, that's why I'm late. Umm...well yes, I have been! I was going to write this X'mas letter early November, but the US election was on. We all know that it took 36 days to decide the winner, so for the last 5 weeks, I've been watching CNN, reading newspapers online, and arguing with my friend Ted over Al Gore! That's a pretty good excuse huh? Read More…
