2020 Christmas Letter

Dear all,
Finally, a year where we pretty much did the same thing - stayed home!
One word: Covid-19.
That’s me up to date!
Until next year, I hope this letter finds you safe (even more so this year) and wish you all, a Covid-free and Merry Christmas.
Your friend,
Bevan
p.s. IF life was normal in 2020, we would have completed three trips this year (and one in January) but all were cancelled. Sorry Qantas, but we tried.
My client based increased a little bit because of Covid-19, as many people started upgrading their home office. That made up a bit for me not driving Uber for obvious reasons.
A few sad notes: An old friend of my parents passed away. She was always kind, gentle and a lady. I will miss her smile and her cooking. Bye Lo-mama.
One of dad’s sisters also passed away quite unexpectedly this year. I thought I would meet her again but I guess it’ll be a long time before I do. I will always remember the times we spent when she visited Sydney all those years ago and I picked her up from her “place of vice” after work everyday. Farewell, Aunt Susan.
One of my favourite cousins, Sim Sim, passed away from illness. Because of the lockdown, we couldn’t attend her farewell (nor were we able to attend the online funeral). I will forever be grateful that she gave me a roof to stay all those years ago when I temporarily became a “refugee” in Hong Kong for a month. I had to beg a taxi driver to take me across from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island on a number 8 typhoon morning. I had plenty of fun staying with her family.
Back on a happier note: I took advantage of the lockdown period to upgrade and improved the technology at home - my WiFi network now covers every part of the house. It involved taking out the floor plan of the house to find the optimal placement of the tech gadgets.
I’m set up for supporting clients remotely and giving mini-webinars. Works quite well really. Guys, I’m ready for INTERNATIONAL clients! 🤣
We upgraded our back porch and I can now make pizzas with my pizza oven regardless of the weather conditions.

I tried my hands at making focaccia. Very nice if I do say so myself, probably from the experience I gained making pizzas.

Finally, Kismet says “Hi”.

It’s been 13 years but I can still hear my dad saying: “The times for us to be together is getting less and less”. I regret I kept thinking at the time “there’s still tomorrow”. And then he left. I thought I’d meet my aunt again. And then she left.
A timely reminder to treasure the times we have with those who are close and dear to us.
It’s still very uncertain times ahead - I sincerely hope that this letter finds you healthy and safe.
Merry Christmas.
p.p.s. We’re ready for the next pandemic: Toilet paper ☑️, paper towels ☑️, hand sanitisers ☑️, masks ☑️. Well stocked.
Given the situation around the world at the moment, I thought it more appropriate to play “Bless this House O Lord we pray, make it safe by night and day”.
